Is another school asking you to write the VCC English Language Assessment (ELA)?

If you are applying to another school or institution (Capilano College, BCIT,, etc) an ELA may be required for entry.  Please come to the Assessment Centre in person to make your appointment.  You will need to bring a referral letter from the institution, picture identification and $90.  PLEASE NOTE:  the cost of this service will increase to $100.00 on June 01, 2010.

The fee is payable by cash, debit card, MasterCard, Visa or American Express. Assessment fees are non-refundable.

We will give you a sample of the assessment on the day you make your appointment.

Assessment results are confidential and valid for one calendar year.  ESL assessments can be re-written every 4 months.

Do you live outside the Lower Mainland and need to write the VCC ABE Reading, Writing and/or Math assessments?

If you need to do our assessments to get into a VCC program, we will mail our ABE Reading, Writing and/or Math assessments to your local college.   Please contact Student Services or Assessment Services at your local college and get the name of a contact person who is willing to supervise the assessments for you.  You can also call the VCC Assessment Centre for a list of existing contacts.  Phone us at 604.871.7093 and select option # 8 or email us at assessments@vcc.ca with:

• The name, address and phone number of the college to mail it to



• Name and title of the person who will supervise



• Your complete name, address, phone number and birthdate



• The name of the program you are applying for

The test package will then be forwarded to the supervisor.   Our cost is $25 per assessment.  PLEASE NOTE:  the cost per assessment will increase to $30.00 on June 01, 2010.  A $15 processing fee will be charged before the test package is sent out.

Fees are payable by MasterCard, Visa, American Express, a certified cheque or a money order.   Assessment fees and processing fees are non-refundable.

Do you need a proctor or invigilator to supervise an exam from another school, college, university or professional organization?

The Assessment Centre provides proctoring and invigilation services.

The fee for this service is $35 per exam (up to 3 hours).  PLEASE NOTE:  the cost of this service will increase to $50.00 per exam (up to 3 hours) on June 01, 2010.  This fee is payable by cash, debit card, MasterCard, Visa or American Express.   Assessment fees are non-refundable.
